Thanks via Penny Black and Marlene S (at Squigglefly)

I made this thank you card for my physical therapist for helping me with my back.  I used the Penny Black image for the front of the card (using Copics, stickles, Black Enamel from Ranger), and some Glossy Accents on the blue bike frame.  I cut this with a Spellbinders Nestabilities die cut and used Tumbled Glass on the edges.

 This is the inside of the card.  I got this image from Marlene (who I miss in the blog community).  You can find her images for purchase at Squigglefly.com.  I used flocking powder on her socks and Liquid Pearls on the dress and Glossy Accents on the eyeglasses.  I also used Stickles on the hair bow.

The sentiment came from an Inkadinkadoo clear stamp set re: Thanks that I got at Michaels.  The light blue dots are Liquid Pearls.  The ink on the sentiment is Jenni Bowlin.

Note: I am not this "top heavy" however pretty much everything else is accurate.  Even the little hairs on my leg.  (I have about 3 hairs normally... and sometimes forget to shave Larry, Moe, and Curly).

She has a great little card with this flower petal that opens up when you open the card.  She also has been really kicking out the cards!!!   (She really has some lovely cards on display).  I like that she varies her card shapes.

Happy Halloween!!!   I used this freebie from Marlene!  Isn't she cute???  I also added some embellishment stickers that were on sale at Michael's today.  I put Glossy Accents on the little girl's glasses and I put marigold flocking powder on the costume (Martha Stewart flocking powder).  The purple strip of paper was made with a combination of Distress Inks (Chipped Sapphire, Concord Grape, and Victorian Velvet).  I blended them all with a blending pad (this is how I've seen Britta Swiderski do it). The web paper and the tree paper was part of a Martha Stewart set that measured about 4x6" and was on clearance today at Michael's.  I rarely buy her paper because it's pricier and I'm not into some of her patterns but this set was really cute.

 This sentiment is from Scrappy Mom's. The background on the purple distressed paper was stamped with a Dazzled Versamark ink pad using the Penny Black Halloween (clear stamps). It's called "Trick or Treat" and you can get them at Simon Says Stamp.

This may be my last card of the week....  Rain is due on So Cal on Wednesday (OH JOYS... dripping sarcasm).  Here is a Marlooney image that I just adore.  It sums up my feelings about winter weather.  It's supposed to warm up this weekend (if you believe our weathermen out here).  I used Copics and some Glossy Accents (on the fingernail).  The lapel and cuffs were done in flocking powder.  Thank you Marlene, for a great image.  If you haven't gone to Marlene's site, she does daily free images.... They're a steal.

A new puppy....

A friend of mine just got a new puppy.  She got a Coton de Tulear.  Well, as all of us know (who have had puppies), he is learning where he can potty and ergo.... this card.

The image was from Ms. Marlooney!!!! She gives away free and hilarious images on her blog postings plus she sells them via Squigglefly. [CORRECTION:  Tammy informed me via Comment, that this may be found on Dude Time Doodles.] I used Spellbinders Nestabilities for the frame, Copics, white flocking powder for the fur (can you see it?), and Glossy Accent on the collar.  I also put a bit of brown flocking powder in the "gift pile."  The sentiment was my own (simple) by using Lawn Fawn's "Jessie's ABC's" and Lawn Fawn's banner stamps.  The sentiment was stamped in Jenni Bowlin Brown Sugar ink.

Amuse-bouche:  I started watching another tv show.  As you know, I'm a big Adam Carolla fan and decided to check out his "The Car Show" on the Speed Channel.  Although I know  nothing about cars (even how to open the hood without pulling out the manual), I really enjoy this show. It's interesting, funny, and I am starting to appreciate a little bit about various designs and manufacturers of cars.  I watched an episode today about the Ford Company's test field in Michigan. It was really interesting.

Another Marlene image... and Viewers' Mail

I made this card using ANOTHER ONE OF Marlene's freebie image-- SEE WHAT YOU CAN GET FOR FREE???? 

What a screaming riot!  

I used Liquid Pearls to bling up the dress.  I also used Stickles on the shoes and hair bow. You will notice there is some distressing ink touchups on the edges of the image and the sentiment (Concord Grape). The Rustic Twine came from Paper Trey Ink.

I got the idea of this card from a male (mid 30's) friend that told me that sometimes (when around other guys), they use farting as a strategy either to change the subject, lighten the mood, or end the conversation.   My female friend and I stood there with our mouths hanging open thinking... ARE YOU SERIOUS? Wait, why am I surprised? I marveled at the sheer uninhibited freedom that NHL players have of blowing snot rockets on national tv. 

This card represents the female attempt at that strategy. Of course, I won't be testing this theory... as I don't fart.  (snicker....   )

One of my viewers was kind enough to ask her relative who is a fireman WHAT THE HECK WAS UP WITH THE DUMMIES....
Here is the (un)official response: "I'm sure that looked weird to see them driving around like that, but what your friend saw were rescue dummies. Those are used for training. The dummies are super heavy (in excess of 150 lbs) and super awkward because they don't flex like normal people. They probably couldn't get them in and out of the cab of the engine, so they just tied them off on the back, for transport. Pretty weird looking for sure. "

Me:  Thank you for inquiring dear viewer.  It was such an amusing sight and provided some of the viewers here with a chuckle.

Here is a card using one of Marlene's images and sentiments.  I made this birthday card for my dear friend.  

 

We had a lovely birthday celebration walking and shopping in Corona Del Mar.  It was great weather.  Here are some photos I took:

 We ate at a gastropub that is attached to this restaurant.  The Gastropub was called The Side Arm. The Stilton Mac and Cheese was awesome, as was their cheese and meats platter.

This barber shop allowed your dog to come in and sit at your feet as you got your hair cut.  I inquired- they only do men's hair.  (DARN!)

I passed by a florist shop and saw these displays. Gorgeous!

This is a new cheese store that opened up down there.  This is only a small selection of the available cheese.
