Well, today is the first day I felt better. I had to call in for stronger cough syrup as this congestion was wreaking havoc on my chest cavity. It's been a weekend of coughing, tissue, BONES (yes, the TV show on NETFLIX), and cheesecake... Say what???? I'll explain.
First, the card....
Happy Birthday to my dad who reminds me daily what Cesar Milan would say about how poorly my dogs behave, tries to diagnose my vehicle problems, and waits for the service tech (plumber, cable, termite, etc) to come to the house so I don't have to take off of work.

Back to my story.... So, most of the weekend was spent coughing... (nose blowing didn't start until yesterday). I felt ok, just had a heaviness in my chest and was coughing a lot. I was taking my good friend (My Comic-Con Partner-in-Crime) out for dinner as she received a promotion at her company. (Her card will be posted tomorrow). We had a lovely dinner at Cheesecake Factory where I (a) nearly stabbed the waiter with my fork because he was taking my french fry plate away and there were still about 8 more fries left (b) opted for the Reese's Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Cheesecake because $.25 was being donated to a "feed the hungry" campaign (c) kindly corrected the waiter that I was ordering 2 slices of cake as opposed to 1 to be shared (d) ALL OF THE ABOVE.
Now, you know me by now... what do YOU think the answer is?
Let's go over the choices:
(a) Yes, I nearly buried the tines of my fork in his wrist as he mistook my animated conversation with gesticulations with "I am done eating my meal."
(b) Apparently, they have a new cake they are temporarily selling. I toiled with my 'go to' option of "Red Velvet Cheesecake (see prior blog post) with this new lovely slice of heaven. Check it out people.... the Reese's Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Cheesecake.
Now for those of you who have NEVER been to a
Cheesecake Factory, let me just say... it's wonderful but highly caloric. Yea, that dollop of peanut butter goodness on top-- UNFORGETTABLE. The whole thing is just AWESOME!!! (eyes rolling back for dramatic effect). I digress...
The waiter tried to SELL the slice to us by telling us that it was 1 of 2 cakes wherein $.25 was being donated to charity. Now, keep in mind, this slice is about $6.95. You'd think they could donate a bit more than $.25. But, being such a good salesman that he is- he convinced us that charity should be the foremost factor in our decision making process.
(c) The waiter brought 1 slice for my friend and me to share. Not being shy... and having hardly eaten all day to save up for this... I flapped my arms about, beckoning him back to our table... "Um, we need another piece." What a professional! He didn't let on what he was really thinking. Snort! Dude! Look, you're going to get a bigger tip so smile and get my darn slice before I stab you with my other fork (haha).
After our lovely dinner, we went to go see "Paul." It was a cute alien movie with two British Actors that we like: Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Star Trek, Spaced) and Nick Frost (Spaced). What we really liked was that the movie started and ended at Comic-Con in San Diego.
Disclaimer: story was embellished for the sake of comedic elements (although I really did eat that Cheesecake)
