CONGRATULATIONS CARD

One of my friend's has a wonderful husband who works for our city.  He is always keeping an eye out for me... and making sure that things in my neighborhood are going well.  So it was just fitting that he was recently given an additional accolade of being President of the Employee Association.  I am so happy for him. He is just a wonderful person with integrity and an awesome work ethic.

So, of course, I had to make him a little card.

I've recently become addicted to Paper Trey Ink dies and stamps (bad bad... like I have time to even use them. I just like buying them).  Here is the card I made with the Birthday Bash cartridge, an action wobble, some Liquid Pearls, and my Paper Trey Ink die/Stamp.   I also used the swiss dots cuttlebug folder (see the white paper- hard to see).

Amuse-bouche:
Guess what I saw at Target and I nearly fell over!!!!

THE FEMBOTS!!!!

Lastly, thank you Jeni for the comment re: my pillow cases.  I don't know how to make anything but that at this stage but here are the two pillow cases I made for the big pillows my friend gave my dogs.  Here is Sammy lounging on the pillows.  There are paw prints on the blue/purple one.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY

Well, I made 2 pillow cases with my sewing machine but only 1 card (which I still need to take a photo of).

Below are 2 videos from Dog Beach today.  Warning, turn off the audio because you will hear a lot of wind.  (note: I tried to embed the youtube video but it was acting weird when I did that so it didn't work).
And also, sorry for the shaky camera work. I'm trying to keep an eye on both dogs and make sure I don't trip over a dog.

It was lovely weather down in HB today and there were a lot of people with their dogs.  I took the video at a less congested area.  I also tried to scan the Pacific horizon but then realized I had lost sight of Colt (so again, sorry about the shaky camera work).

Happy Memorial Day and to all of those who have served and are serving--- THANK YOU.

Thinking of You-- from Paper Trey Ink

I wanted to use my new Paper Trey Ink images (Scattered Showers).  I used some Stickles and I also pulled out the HOT GLUE GUN and glued a little rubber ducky (from the buttons section at Michaels) to the ribbon that I got at Michaels $1 bin.  The Cuttlebug embossed image is actually a Sizzx Valentine folder.  The sentiment came with the Scattered Showers Stamp set.  (I need to work more with this stamp set.)   The polka dotted paper is from Michael's Recollections set.

Another one from Kate's ABC's...

Here's another one from Kate's.  I am still puzzled why I like this cartridge so much. It's so feminine and little girl-ish  (says the woman wearing the men's flannel as she sits and types.)  Any whoooo--- I used a bit of bling, a Martha Stewart Butterfly punch on white glitter paper, some Recollection roses, my Tim Holtz Distressing tool, and my white gel pen.  I also put some Martha Stewart pink flocking material on the lapel and cuffs. (I poo-pooed the idea of getting MS flocking material but it is better than the other cheaper stuff.  Michael's had a bunch of MS flocking material on sale so I bought it then.  I don't know if I will go back to the other stuff).

Amuse-bouche:  Thank you to all of you who have enjoyed watching Stimpy eat and drink.  I will be loading more videos in the future to including the chinchillas.  To watch a tortoise eat is very peaceful.  He loves romaine lettuce and frozen green beans and peas.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Aka the Energizer Bunny...

This image came from Beccy's Place.    The image is Little Susie.  Beccy has some really cute free images so head over and check her out.

Any one who knows me knows how much I love to dance... and yes, I keep "going and going and going."  This card is ALL me.

I used Copic Markers and some Recollections Flowers that were sprayed with Smooch Spritz.  The tickets came from Paper Trey Ink.  This included the 'die cut' of the ticket border as well as the stamp set that coordinates with it.  http://www.papertreyink.com/stamps_justtheticket.html.
Also, I used EK Success' Bumpy Road punch that I had to order from Overstock.com because I could not find it locally.

Amuse-bouche:  Here's video of Stimpy eating his lettuce (with SamUL poking around for scraps).

CONGRATULATIONS CARD

I thought I'd make this little congratulations card. I used the Birthday Bash cartridge and some Michael's bling.  There is a lot of inking on the edges...

Simple Thank You Card

I had a minor yet annoying banking issue and the guy who helped me was phenomenal.  So, I made him this card.

Here is a simple thank you card that is basically copied from Creations with Christina.  It is from the Storybook Cartridge.

Amuse-bouche:
New band that I'm enjoying, Delphic.  This is their song "Doubt."  (I don't like the video, just the song).

Sweetly Tart.... and a thirsty Tortoise

I love this little card made with Kate's ABC's.  I should have entered THIS one for Mary's challenge
I used a sponge and various colors of Holtz' Distress ink to ink the edges (one of Mary's favorite techniques).

Amuse-bouche: For those who have never seen a desert tortoise drink water... here's a video of Stimpy, after he woke up from hibernation.  When they first wake up after a long winter's sleep, they are hungry and thirsty.  So, I typically put Stimpy in a big pan of water and let him drink.  Here is a minute or so of him drinking.
You can see him swallowing.

Mary's Challenge

The leaves came from a Recollections Zoo die cut shapes package that I showed you guys on a prior post.
Here is my card to enter in Mary's Challenge. I love to do challenges but rarely have time. In this challenge, we just had to use fruit in our card.  I KNEW THAT PRESERVES CARTRIDGE WOULD COME IN HANDY!!!

I love blueberries (blueberry jam, blueberry pie)....  so here is a blueberry card.  I didn't put a sentiment as (quite frankly), I'm not sure what sentiment goes with Blueberries.... "Hope you're not blue today?"

PS: Mary extended the time to extend the entries because of Blogger being down. THANKS MARY.   I was kinda bummed as my posting didn't go up Thursday as it was supposed to.

Amuse-bouche:
Today, I went to a local italian place to meet my friends for lunch.  The owner made a special vegetarian Cortini for me.  It has veggies and ricotta and mozarella.  It was yummy...  He put artichokes, mushrooms, garlic, bell peppers- and that marinara sauce is awesome.

KATE'S ABC... CARTRIDGE

I finally got the Kate's ABC Cartridge. It was on sale at Joann's for $29.99. Here is my first card from it. I'm not sure why I love this cartridge so much.  I just think it's so spring-like.   The sentiment came from a small sentiment clear stamp set at Michaels.  The white satin ribbon is from Michael's.
The frame is from Stretch Your Imagination.

Count to 10....

I made this card for a friend of mine. She is SO patient.  She would NEVER look like this because she counts to 10 first. Of course, a martini and some aspirin always helped.

Image is from Sassy Cheryl's!!!!

A Day at Dog Beach, Huntington Beach, CA... and "Attack of the Birds'.... bowels"

Sam and Colt went to Dog Beach today (May 10, 2011)!!!  (Fred has been and hates it so he went to Grandma & Grandpa's).  Here are some photos from their day at the beach.  Most of the dogs are off leash.  I can't allow these two off leash as Colt runs up fast on dogs and can scare them.  Sammy will run away and not come back when called.  The weather was gorgeous and they had a nice time.  Sammy was a little less thrilled with the GIANT POOL OF WATER.  Colt loved it.

Video of their day is at the very end...

Note:I did stop at a little independent scrapbooking store.  We don't have many small independent ones. It was nice. I picked up a few Distress Ink pads and some $1 clear stamps.

Looking towards Palos Verdes/Long Beach

Looking south at the Huntington Beach Pier, with Ruby's at the end of it!  YUMMY!

SamUL and Colt

"Attack of the Buckshots"
I also took the dogs with me to Newport Beach as I had an appointment. I let them sit in the car under a very shady tree while I was at my appointment.  I came out and this is what I found....

I don't know if Colt was yapping at the birds or if they sensed the dogs were nearby or what but my car was COVERED in bird poop.  The windshield was peppered with buckshots. I  had to use the windshield wipers to be able to SEE out the window.  Yes, I can hear you all chuckling but it was unsightly.  By the time you read this, my car will have been washed.

Foxy Trot

Here's another card using Campin' Critters.  This actually could be a comedic caricature of me in spin class. Do ya see how that right thigh just melts into the right calf?  That's called Reese's Pieces Alley! [I'm currently addicted to them.  Why? I don't know. Ever since my congestion, I find comfort in these little pebbles of salty crunchiness.]
BTW, that sexy fox is on an Action Wobble....

Campin Critter Card

This little bear is on an Action Wobble.
In the last week, I have come home to some drawings stuffed in my mailbox, courtesy of some of the neighborhood children. So, I created a couple cards and dropped off some new color markers so that they could continue with their artistic endeavors...

To a dear friend....

In my job, I work with a lot of defense attorneys.  One of my favorites is my friend Pete.  We recently were discussing a case and I decided to send him this card.  Pete is a SHARK.  He's a wonderfully gifted and smart attorney and I have been blessed to work with him.
I do pity the poor fool that has to go to battle against him in the courtroom.

Spellbinders Nestabilities is the die cut I used on the sentiment

MY FIRST SEWING PROJECT!!!

Today was my first sewing class.  I took the class at a local independent craft store.  I had a great time. It took me forever to make this (4.5hours) but that's because I was one of 3 that was learning the step-by-step process.  We had the teacher running back and forth :)  Poor Judy.

Anyway, it was fun... so, I am going to go looking for my first sewing machine in the next few days.  My goal is to ONE DAY make my dogs 'form-fitted' Halloween costumes.

The fabric is soooo cute.  I don't think the photo does the colors justice.

Last night, I also met with some crochet friends so we could make caps for people recovering from chemo/radiation.  www.capcrusaders.com
I can't get the hang of the counting so I have to go the 'cheater' method which is to use those plastic rings that you can buy at Michaels/Wal-Mart.  I must say though, those rings are awesome. Less stress on your hands/wrists.
